Being Happy With The Simple Things In Life

Often times as humans we have unrealistic expectations about life and our future. It is very important that we realize the things that are important to us. While having lots of money and a nice car are important, it is often the simple things in life that money cannot buy that keep us happy and grounded.
Here is the list of simple things in life that always put a smile on my face.
Family – My family always comes first. I can’t imagine life without my family. We have our issues just like any other family but we also understand it is the understanding of family and blood that keeps us connected with who we are. If you are married and have kids, they should be your number one cause for happiness. Monetary things will come and go, but a broken relationship with a family member may never heal. Cherish every moment you are with them and make the best of it. Life’s too short.
Nature – Have you ever stopped and smelled the roses? Literally. Next time you’re under stress or feel sad just go to the beach or to the park and spend 10 minutes with nature. Try to disconnect from all the negative thoughts you may have and think about things that make you happy instead.
Exercise – Exercising is not only good for the body, it is also great for your mind. To achieve proper balance, you need to make exercising a routine in your life. If you have trouble going out in public and socializing with others, exercising will help you overcome some of those fears as well. Stop procrastinating and go to a gym near you and become a member. For only £30-50 a month exercising is an area that we must all become experts in and invest in our health and happiness.
Take a Mini Vacation – Most people like taking one vacation a year. I say that’s torture for your body. I personally love taking 2 to 3 vacations in a 12 month period. Of course my vacations are not as long as the ones who go once a year, but it’s something that I look forward to every few months instead once a year. I spend the same amount if not less compared to my friends who only take one long vacation a year. Remember that keeping your body and mind relaxed is important and vacationing is one of the best ways one can do just that.
